As human beings adopt a more linear approach of “Take, Make, Dispose” in their daily life, it eventually, over time, contributes to the increase of environmental waste and pollution. In contrast, a Circular Economy is a solution framework that values resources to be innovatively reused, benefiting both consumers and the Earth in the long term.

The concept of the Circular Economy is centralised on the three main principles, which are:

  • Eliminate waste and pollution
  • Circulate products and materials
  • Regenerate nature

5 Things That Can Be Done To Enable The Circular Economy

In adapting to the new sustainable era, five things are worth making a habit that aligns with the Circular Economy Concept.

#1 Circular Fashion

Choosing fashion brands that use recyclable materials in their products will contribute to a more sustainable environment. Or purchase fashion items from thrift stores to avoid new textiles ending up in the landfills or burned. #thriftedfashionforlife

#2 Zero-waste dining

Finish off your leftovers to easily contribute to zero food waste initiatives. You can also try storing the raw ingredients in your fridge correctly to extend their expiry date. As a result, you will be able to fully utilise all of it without discarding it in the bin.

#3 Environmental-friendly resources

Switch to biodegradable resources instead of using something that takes a long time to decompose, such as plastics. The majority of the environmental issues were a result of plastic wastage. Say no to plastic!

#4 Circular Travel Solutions

Use public transport to prevent air pollution due to the fossil fuel being exposed to the air. If you take your car to work, carpool with your friends to minimise the number of vehicles on the road. Fewer cars, cleaner air.

#5 Prolong products

Repair your used products to upgrade their lifespan. If you can upcycle it to something new, that’s even better! That way, you can reduce the number of resources used and wastage in the future. #doityourself

These are a list of things you can try doing to support the Circular Economy in your daily life. Comment below if you’ve tried any of these initiatives before.
