Influence and inspiration

Tell us about a leadership lesson that you’ve learnt that’s unique to being a female leader.

BOLD and be BRAVE! Be open to constructive criticism to learn and grow. The road to the top is never simple, so I’ve learned to be resilient and to never give up. There’s no model answer to getting things right, but I’ll lose 100% of the race that I don’t participate in!

Have you drawn professional inspiration from other women? Tell us about someone who has inspired you.

Jacinda Ardern, the Prime minister of New Zealand. Being the youngest female head of government at 37, she comes across as an open communicator in times of crisis and understands the power of empathy.

What energizes you about work?

The chance to make an impact and help folks to succeed! I like empowering folks, such as encouraging a coworker to consider a change in mindset, and removing impediments for the team in order for them to achieve their goals! I am really excited to be part of everything good and challenging!

What advice would you give to the next generation of female leaders?

Don’t compare yourself to others, build relationships, grow your knowledge and experiences, and practise empathy.

Women empowerment

How has FSMK empowered you to #breakthebias and be the leader you are today?

Being in a male-dominated organization, my views are heard and respected. I can say that at FSMK there is gender equality, and no stereotyping or discrimination.

How should women support other women in their organizations?

We should encourage all women to always stand up for themselves and to speak up. Embrace all challenges and be VOCAL!
