It’s been a roller-coaster ride, in a good way. Firstly it’s exciting, as we continue to pioneer digital financial services for SMEs across Southeast Asia. It has also been a transformational experience for me as a leader leading a rapidly growing organisation through unprecedented times during the pandemic. Finally, it’s inspiring to see the growth of our team members who have stepped up into bigger roles over the years.

Through the years, I find myself energised by the entrepreneurial culture and team spirit here at Funding Societies!

My go-to is to be comfortable with uncertainty, because the most impactful endeavours are rarely well defined upfront and do not usually have a finite set of solutions.

13. Describe a typical work day for you, from the time you wake up to the time you go to bed.

Everyday is different. But a typical work day for me involves spending a fair amount of my time speaking with many internal stakeholders across the region to help achieve our financial and strategic goals. (e.g. Country teams & Regional teams, including Product, Data, Risk, etc.). Additionally, I travel regularly across the region to meet the teams and help them work through any milestones they are trying to achieve.

14. What is one most important career lesson you would pass down to your team or the next batch of leaders?

Leadership is a privilege and it’s critical for leaders to be deep in the trenches with their team to make the necessary and timely decisions, so as to move the team forward.
