What’s your favourite piece of career advice?
My go-to is to be comfortable with uncertainty, because the most impactful endeavours are rarely well defined upfront and do not usually have a finite set of solutions.

Through the years, I find myself energised by the entrepreneurial culture and team spirit here at Funding Societies!

What’s your favourite piece of career advice?
I read a lot. Some time back, I came across this quote by Howard Thurman: “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive”.

What do you like most about your team?
I like that the finance team truly lives our company values with a great focus on Growing Relentlessly & Focusing on Impact while Enabling Teamwork. I appreciate that the team is authentic and doesn’t shy away from being transparent to the stakeholders. We also highlight the things that go well and take the time to appreciate one another, an initiative start-ups often forget to do as they are so busy solving current problems.

The people here foster a strong sense of belonging. I also love their dedication towards making an impact on SMEs and societies.

Now, we know that technological jargon is difficult to understand for the layman. So we’ve asked our CTO and CPO to simplify their roles, so that almost anyone will be able to get what they do. How would you explain what you do to a 5 year old?
My job is to help create and improve special computer programs that make it easier for small businesses, like the stores where we buy our toys or snacks, to borrow money when they need it. My team and I work together to make sure these businesses can get the money they need to grow, buy new things, or hire more people. We use computers and smart ideas to help these businesses in a fast and friendly way, so they can continue to make our community a fun and happy place.

What do you like most about your team?
Our team’s passion for staying ahead of the curve in the FinTech space is truly inspiring. They are always eager to explore new technologies, methodologies, and ideas to improve our products and services, while staying focused on delivering the best possible experience for our customers. This drive to excel and innovate is at the core of our success as a company.
How would you explain what you do to a 5 year old?
It’s like being the boss of a really cool piggy bank. You have to decide what goes into the piggy bank, how people can put money into it, and how they can take money out. You also have to make sure the piggy bank is safe and secure, so no one can steal the money. You work with a team of people to make sure the piggy bank is always getting better, and that people like using it. It’s a really important job because lots of people use piggy banks to save their money and buy things they want.
